Hi Friends! I'm Liesel Anne.

I am a self-taught artist based out of Lawrence, Kansas living with my husband, our young daughter, and our two fur babies - a dog and a cat.

I grew up in Lawrence and graduated from the University of Kansas in 2015 with a degree in health care. All throughout college, I had a hobby of designing things and hand-making gifts, thank you cards, and more. After graduation and a few years into the “real world” (and a stint of 8 years on the East Coast in Richmond, Virginia) I took the leap and am now able to fully focus on my art and wonderful customers. I picked up a paintbrush in 2022 and haven't put it down ever since. What began as a hobby has turned into a life-changing passion.

Now with a small team of local Lawrence women, I still hand-paint and design everything myself and together we are able to package and ship art, paper goods & gifts all over the country. We know how important each relationship truly is, the importance of the details when hosting the perfect party, and how wonderful it feels to give and receive the perfect gift, so no detail is spared.

With my colorful and preppy style, I hope that my products can continue to bring our customers as much joy as it brings me to make them!

A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT ME:

  1. My name is pronounced Lee-suhl. It's like Diesel with an "L". I was named after my godmother who lives in Freiburg, Germany! (Yes, I have a lot of German in my blood, and yes, I do speak German.)
  2. My husband (Sean) and I got married in June of 2019. He is the numbers and business guy for the shop - our real CFO- and he is such a great help when coming up with new ideas and efficiencies! Without him, this shop wouldn’t be possible. We had a daughter, Adeleinn (pronounced "Adeline"), in 2023 and being a mom has totally changed my world. I had no idea you could love someone this much and I am loving being a mama to our little girl!
  3. I am a huge believer in power naps. 18-30 minutes you guys — try it before you knock it - it really works! (I was photographed taking a "power nap" when I was little for a Hallmark Easter Card. I was pre-destined for the greeting card world!)
  4. Our kitty, Dublin, loves my job because he gets to play and nap in ALL the empty boxes from shop deliveries.  We got our puppy, Vienna, in Spring of 2022 and she enjoys when I take breaks from my job to play with her.
  5. I could eat potatoes for every single meal and I absolutely love green onions (or shallots or scallions) on just about any savory food item. Think: GREEN ONION PIZZA, GREEN ONION BACON, GREEN ONION MAC AND CHEESE, and the delicious possibilities are endless.
  6. I went to the University of Kansas for my undergraduate degree as a fourth generation Jayhawk. I lived in the exact same room in the scholarship hall that my grandmother lived in when she was in college, and the majority of my family including my grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles and cousins all went to KU. You could say we bleed red and blue. Definitely a die hard Jayhawk fan. Rock Chalk.
  7. My nickname growing up was "Little Bird" because I would devour all the food that was put in front of me and would open my mouth up wide like a little bird ready to eat more as soon as I could gobble down the next bite. Then I took to singing in choirs, a cappella groups, and doing solos and duets - hence our original business name when I opened in 2018 (and our 4 bird logo with the music notes in them): The Singing Little Bird!
  8. I love to travel and my favorite places in the world include Paris, Switzerland, and various places around Germany. I also love visiting family all over the USA. My grandparents have always told me that being retired is the BEST because they get to hang out more with their family and travel the world, so here's to holding out until retirement!
  9. I picked up a paintbrush in January of 2022 and never put it down. I have a passion for painting all the little joys in life. Now all of my paintings are available on our shop for purchase! You don't have to be amazing at something or have years of experience to get started. Just do it! You never know what may happen!
  10. I love my job and don't ever feel like I actually WORK. I love that I get to wake up each day and talk with wonderful customers (like yourself) and create beautiful personalized stationery and cards for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, graduations, and other milestones. I am so blessed to play a small part in such exciting times of people’s lives!

It's so nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by and shopping small!

Joyfully,

Liesel Anne
